BIG SPENDER: THE BEAUTIFUL HEAD skillfully combines the iconic sculpture The Beautiful Head of Pergamon (discovered in 1879, created in the 2nd century BC) with a functional design object from the late 1940s. A PEZ dispenser – originally conceptualized as a nicotine substitute and shaped like a lighter – soon became a many-headed object of childish desire, a colorful item for collectors and aficionados, forming the base for the antique masterpiece.
